 Git Tips and Tricks

Good to see GNOME happily using git. It turned out to be a surprisingly smooth process. Thanks krh and owen!

Some of us have been busy working on the docs. There's still a lot to write, edit, and polish (help appreciated!). My favorite page is the Git Tips and Tricks. I learned a couple new tricks myself, so thought I share. Add yours.

Thanks to you too for your part in this. :) I wonder where will all the people hide who predicted this will be a disaster. :)

Hi, I had a question regarding typesetting Persian in TeX. Currently it seems that FarsiTeX and TeX-e-Parsi are absolute dead projects and XePersian is the leading software. What do you think and what is your thoughts about future of Persian typesetting in TeX?

Hi Elisa,

That's a pretty accurate assessment. In short:

- If you want to type a thesis or paper and absolutely do NOT need any LaTeX2e packages, FarsiTeX works fine. Indeed, many students still use it in Iran.

- I don't know about TeX-e-Parsi enough to comment.

- XePersian is the future, but currently lacks all the polish that has went into FarsiTeX over the years. On the plus side though, you can use most LaTeX packages.

If you don't mind getting your hands dirty in TeX macros, go with XePersian.
